This photo shows one of my drawings that didn't show in the other photo - it's one of my favourite drawings to date - "Caped Women". I now have seven drawings matted and framed. It makes it more expensive to ship them if someone buys them but they do look good well presented!!!
By the way, you get a glimpse of my new blue sofa given to me by a neighbour who is getting married and moving away! Fortunately for me he lives across the hall so we didn't have far to move it! It's well built and very heavy.

Mandala of Friends and my art hanging on my living room wall
Mandal of Friends now hanging on my bedroom wall. Dragon hanging in front is not part of the mandala!
My art hanging on my living room wall. Friend Laurie came over yesterday and helped me hang things. Still need to clear off the table in front, but the art looks so amazing to me when I walk into the room. This is the first time I have put my drawings and painting up on the wall in my home!!!! It is quite thrilling to me, and sure beats the heck out of having it on the floor leaning up against the book case!!!! The paintings are "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine", "Tulips and Hearts" and "Weeping Moon". The drawings are from top left: "Sisters", " Studio Angel", and below them, "After Gottlieb". Below Tulips and Hearts are: "Dancing Women" and "Riley and Friends".

A Stitch in Time Saves Nine - re-do
This is my painting to which I added some browns and a bit of black. It was very monochromatic before that and I decided it needed a bit more. It is now hanging in my living room so I had to photograph it at a bit of an angle.

These are a few of my favourite things - a book
These are the first few pages from my latest hand made book. I learned the techniques in a workshop at Be Creative taught by debra-lynn may. The title of the workshop was something like beyond the edges. We worked for awhile on adding the background to the paper for the book using dye spritzers, adding and subtracting colour until we were satisfied. After the papers dried the most exciting part began! We did things to the edges!!! In my first photo you can see one edge has houses added, one has tags and one has swirly shapes.
My first favourite thing was houses.
Then crows and then dogs - you don't see the dogs in this photo, but you will in later posts!

A Stitch in Time Saves Nine
This is my third painting. I really love it the most of the three. I painted Weeping Moon for viewing from a distance as it was to hang high in the Library. Now it is hanging , as is A Stitch in Time Saves Nine, on the Passagio at the ACT. This allows for pretty close viewing and I don't quite like it as well. Oh well!!
Last Friday evening I took a workshop along with my friend Laurie at Be Creative. The teacher was Deb May and she was terrific.
The workshop was called "Over the Edge - a journey into art journaling". I had so much fun! My fingernails are stilll stained with the spray dyes we used!!!The book is put together and has yet to be finished. Laurie is coming over on Fri. Jan. and we are going to finish our books together.
This evening I went to a talk on publishing. I have not been writing but this is the best group of people and I have to write something for the critique this Friday. I have a piece of my memoir I want to put down, literally put it down and get it out of my head. I'm ready now.

Small Kindnesses:
It was wrenching moving from the States to Canada alone with my dog, leaving behind all my friends and my arts community. My daughter-in-law took me to an event called "Art in the Swamp", a rather campy event including all kinds of off-the-wall artists, held on a farm with boards laid down to navigate the mud between buildings. There she introduced me to Gaby who has been my artist friend for 10 years now. Through Gaby I met many other artists here in my community. One year there were a series of tremendous poetry workshops with a local poet-in-residence, Elizabeth Bachinsky, and Gaby took me to them, enabling me to continue to grow as a poet while I made art.
I will always be grateful to Daniela, my daughter-in-law, for taking me to this event, and to Gaby, who opened up my world again after the transition.
